Become a Volunteer

By volunteering at Dorchester Pet Fest, you’ll be making a difference in countless animals’ lives! From the pets who come for a fun day out to all those who will be helped through the animal rescues we support, your time and effort will go a long way!

We’re looking for volunteers who have a passion for animals, a strong desire to serve, and positive energy! There are many ways you can get involved with the event so be sure to read through the form to see them all.

Volunteers must be at least 14 years old and completed grade 8.

Event Date: July 25 & 26, 2026

Volunteer Roles

Below is a list of duties you may be asked to do in each role. This is a rough outline and duties may be adjusted as needed to help the event run smoothly.

Setup & Teardown

  • Move items to designated location
  • Assemble items
  • Organize items
  • Ensure grounds are tidy

Grounds Crew

  • Keep water bowls and poop bag rolls filled
  • Pick up garbage (and poop if needed)
  • Empty garbages if they become full
  • Empty recycle if they become full
  • Refill pools and ball pits to keep them fresh and tidy
  • Keep the grounds looking tidy (reset things that may fall over or have been moved)
  • Keep bathrooms tidy
  • Help direct people where to find things if asked

Guest Services & Entrance

  • Welcome everyone to the event
  • Make sure everyone with a pet signs a waiver
  • Sell tickets at entrance
  • Give bracelet if someone is leaving and wants to return
  • Help direct people where to find things if asked

Parking Attendant

  • Direct people where to park
  • Make sure people use the correct entrance and exits when entering/leaving
  • Direct attendees to the event entrance
  • Pick up garbage in the parking area

Activities

  • Keep area tidy
  • Accept payment for paw print paintings
  • Help with the pawprint paintings
  • Give out paint trays and sponges
  • Help with judging contests
  • Make sure all materials needed are at the locations

Silent Auction

  • Make sure table stays tidy
  • Explain how to bid on items
